Sunriver Allotment Garden
One project that the District of Sooke has worked particularly closely with Food CHI on is the Sunriver Allotment Garden initiative. In the Spring of 2010, the District of Sooke entered into an agreement with the Sooke Region Food CHI Society to administer the use of District land at 2354 Phillips Road, until such time as an independent “Sunriver Allotment Garden Society” can be formed.
This property is located within the Agricultural Land Reserve and has been designated as an Allotment Garden. The garden site has been made available for use by all community members of the Sooke Region, and in 2010, over 60 community members had been assigned a garden plot.
