District Parks
The Engineering Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the Municipality's parks and greenspaces. This includes formal parks such as Ed Macgregor Park and the Marine Boardwalk, local play parks, and numerous natural areas such as Whiffin Spit Park.
Broom Hill Park
Location: 2280 Pyrite Drive
Description: Accessible play structures updated in 2008 and 2009, benches, a shelter with picnic tables, asphalt courts, and open grass areas. Car parking, bathroom, and garbage facilities provided. A Helgesen Creek flows through the entire length of the park eventually draining in DeMamiel Creek.
Ed Macgregor Park
Location: 6765 West Coast Road
Description: Beach access provides excellent views of Sooke Harbour, Whiffin Spit and Olympic Mountains and access to Sooke Rotary Pier and the Marine Boardwalk via a wheelchair accessible walkway. Good location within a walk of downtown center of Sooke. Various locally donated benches and tables make the park and ideal location to sit down and relax. Landscaped park provides excellent spot for picnics and community performances and events.
Sooke Fine Arts Donation - Washroom Mosaic
A mosaic has been installed on the Ed Macgregor Park washroom depicting the many artistic events held at the park. The mosaic was donated by the Sooke Fine Arts Society as a project to give back to the community on their 25th Anniversary.

Sooke Bluffs Park
Location: Austins Place
Description: Pedestrian access via gravel path and stairway to a natural ocean-side park which is comprised of a plateau area adjoining the bluffs which drop approx. 20m to the high water mark. Sealions and other marine life can be glimpsed from this natural park. Plateau supports a mature tree canopy of fir, spruce, hemlock, and alder over dense understory, some of it recently cleared in wind storms.
Sun River Nature Trail
Location: 2351 Phillips Road
Description: Linear natural park along Sooke River with natural grass flats and heavily wooded banks. Excellent Natural Walking Trail with great views of wildlife inhabiting the Sooke River and Sooke Hills. Access adjacent to Sun River Estates off Philips Road.
Whiffin Spit Park
Location: 1510 Whiffin Spit Road
Description: Natural spit with lighthouse protecting Sooke Harbour, separating Sooke Harbour and Sooke Inlet. A crushed stone path runs it entire length. Car parking, bathroom and garbage facilities provided. Vegetation includes stands of fir and rose and willow scrub with an extensive range of maritime herbaceous ground flora. A favorite spot for bird-watchers and picnickers!
