“Thank you for remaining diligent as the globe responds to the COVID-19 pandemic. With hope on the horizon and the dissemination of a vaccine in its early stages, the District reflects on what has happened, where we are now, and what lies ahead.

Our economy has been hard hit and while the tide may be turning on the pandemic, many residents and local businesses will feel the effects for some time. As a community, let’s continue to be patient, kind and compassionate. Together, hold onto the Sooke spirit that we feel deeply and are so proud of.” – Mayor Maja Tait

While Provincial Health Orders remain in place, the District remains open to serve you. Most business can be done online, through the District website, and by phone (250.642.1634). It is critical that, as a community, we work together to slow the spread. If attending municipal hall, please note that masks as mandatory as per provincial health orders.

Everyone in BC aged 12+ can book their vaccine appointment. Learn more: gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated.

How you can help
  • Be safe, help stop the spread: Please help your community by practicing social distancing, connecting with people virtually and keeping 2 metres (6 feet) between yourself and others when in public. Wash your hands often, avoid touching your face with unwashed hands, and always stay home if you are sick.
  • Be a good neighbour: If you can do so safely, please check-in with your neighbours to see if they need assistance.
  • Help keep sewers clear: Please do not flush sanitizer wipes, paper towels or baby wipes down the toilet. These non-flushable items can block sewers and impact sewer station functions.
