The Land Use and Development Committee provides input and recommendations to Council on matters related to planning, land use, and development.
The committee:
- Reviews land use applications referred to Council, including rezoning and development proposals that may influence community form, character, and livability
- Provides recommendations to Council to support decision-making on applications and policy matters
- Reviews and advises on updates to key planning documents, such as the Official Community Plan, Zoning Bylaw, and Subdivision and Development Standards Bylaw
- Considers planning and development policies that guide housing, infrastructure, environmental sustainability, and community design
The committee’s role is advisory. It does not make decisions on applications or bylaws but offers recommendations that help Council balance community priorities, growth management, and good planning practices.
