Your health matters. Whether you're looking for a family doctor, or accessing lab or urgent care services, Sooke offers several community care options. 

The District of Sooke is working with the Province of British Columbia and Island Health to improve access to primary care. In 2023, the Province announced a new Community Health Centre for Sooke, to be located on Wadams Way. This future facility will expand primary care access, right here in Sooke. More information is expected in 2025. 

With this work underway, along with business development to attract medical service providers, services in Sooke continue to grow - bringing more care options closer to home.

Please note that the nearest hospital is Victoria General Hospital. Below are some of the health services currently available in our community: 

LifeLabs

Provides laboratory testing services including bloodwork and ECGs.


West Coast Medical Imaging – X-Ray Services

Offers general diagnostic X-rays by physician referral.


Mobile Mammography Services

Provides scheduled breast screening through BC Cancer’s mobile mammography program.

Health Connect Registry

If you live in Sooke and need a primary care provider, register for the Health Connect Registry. You'll be added to a centralized list and contacted when a provider becomes available. Registration takes under 10 minutes and requires: 

  • Your Personal Health Number (PHN) 

  • Home address 

  • Email and phone number 


Midwife Directory

West Coast Family Medical Clinic

Provides family and urgent care services.

Note: Demand for urgent care often exceeds available capacity. The Clinic encourages patients to visit their regular family physician or nurse practitioner whenever possible to preserve urgent care access for those without a provider. 


Sooke Health Unit

Provides community-based health services including public health nursing and immunizations.

Island Health Outreach Services - Nurse Practitioner

Offers primary care services through outreach in the Sooke region, typically at the Sooke Food Bank, with a focus on supporting individuals facing barriers to traditional health care access.

Sooke Hospice Society

Provides care for those with life-threatening conditions, and support for families.

Pharmacist Prescribing

As of June 1, 2023, pharmacists in B.C. can assess and prescribe treatment for 21 minor ailments and contraception. This service is free for residents with a BC Services Card and is available in person at participating pharmacies.

8-1-1 is a free, confidential service available 24/7. Call to speak with a: 

  • Registered Nurse 

  • Dietitian 

  • Pharmacist 

  • Qualified exercise professional
