2026 Election: Candidate Nominations Now Open

The nomination period is now open for individuals interested in running for elected office in the District of Sooke’s 2026 General Local Election. 

Nominations are being accepted through the District of Sooke Municipal Hall for the following offices:

  • One Mayor 
  • Six Councillors 

Completed nomination documents must be filed with the District of Sooke’s Chief Election Officer no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026. Late submissions cannot be accepted. 

Nomination documents can be filed in person at: 

Sooke Municipal Hall 
2205 Otter Point Road, Sooke, B.C. 

Prospective candidates are encouraged to review their nomination packages carefully and submit their completed documents early to allow time to address any missing information or other concerns before the deadline. Candidates are responsible for ensuring all required documents are complete and received by the Chief Election Officer within the nomination period. 

Nomination packages and candidate resources are available online at sooke.ca/elections. Printed packages are also available from Sooke Municipal Hall during regular business hours, Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 

The names of individuals who file nomination documents will be published at sooke.ca/elections at the close of the nomination period. 

General Voting Day is Saturday, October 17, 2026. Those elected will serve a four-year term representing the District of Sooke.
