BC Hydro advises Sooke and Metchosin residents of traffic impacts on Sooke Rd, Starting February 9, 2026
The District of Sooke is sharing the following operational update from BC Hydro:
Starting February 9th, BC Hydro will be doing tree removal along Sooke Rd, between Woodruff Rd and Kangaroo Rd. The work is expected to take approximately three weeks; however, the schedule may extend depending on weather conditions, site constraints, or other operational requirements. This work is part of system improvement work planned for later this year.
While we will not be impacting rush-hour traffic, the work will require lane usage during the hours of 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. There may be times when work extends beyond this window and BC Hydro will do its best to communicate when this is required.
- In areas where the road is double-lane, traffic will operate as single-lane alternating.
- In areas with three lanes, two lanes will remain open for traffic.
To keep drivers informed, electronic message boards will be installed at key locations.
We regret the inconvenience, but the work is required to help us improve the system that serves Sooke and the surrounding area. Please keep to the safe speed limit in work zones and follow the directions of the flaggers. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete this work safely.
