BC Hydro provides an operational update of traffic impacts

The District of Sooke is sharing the following operational update from BC Hydro:

April 30, 2026 

BC Hydro advises Sooke and Metchosin residents of traffic impacts on Sooke Rd.

METCHOSIN/ SOOKE:  BC Hydro is finishing up work along Sooke Rd, between Woodruff Rd and Kangaroo Rd. The remaining work is expected to end by May 22 and will be done overnight between 7 PM and 6 AM. Depending on weather conditions, site constraints, or other operational requirements, the schedule may be extended. 

There may be times when work extends beyond this window and BC Hydro will do its best to communicate when this is required.   

o    In areas where the road is double-lane, traffic will operate as single-lane alternating.
o    In areas with three lanes, two lanes will remain open for traffic.

To keep drivers informed, electronic message boards will be installed at key locations. 

We regret the inconvenience, but the work is required to help us improve the system that serves Sooke and the surrounding area. Please keep to the safe speed limit in work zones and follow the directions of the flaggers. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete this work safely.
