Call for Participation Interest: Streamkeepers Training
The District of Sooke, in collaboration with 606 Water Group, is exploring the opportunity to host Streamkeepers training modules locally in Sooke.
At its meeting on Monday, January 26, Council received the District of Sooke Liquid Waste Management Plan Review report, which includes direction to “facilitate the creation and training of Streamkeeper Teams” (p. 44).
In alignment with this direction, the District is assessing interest in hosting Streamkeepers training in Sooke. Streamkeepers is a community-based environmental stewardship program that provides hands-on training in stream monitoring and watershed health.
At this stage, the District is gathering expressions of interest to better understand demand and support early planning and logistics. To proceed, 10-12 participants is required.
Those interested are kindly asked to respond, by completing the form below, by March 1, 2026:
Please note that the Streamkeepers courses require a commitment of approximately 14 hours, typically delivered over two weekend days on separate weekends (one 6-hour day and one 8-hour day).
