Community Invited to Gather for Remembrance Day Service on November 11
On Wednesday, November 11, 2026, the community is invited to come together in remembrance, honouring those who have served and continue to serve, remembering lives lost in military service, and recognizing the sacrifices of veterans and their families.
Hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54, Sooke’s annual Remembrance Day service offers a meaningful opportunity to pause, reflect and remember.
Residents of all ages are welcome, and encouraged, to attend

- Approximately 11:30 a.m. – Legion Open House: Following the service, the Sooke Legion welcomes the community for a reception.
Planning Your Visit and Traffic Considerations
Those planning to attend are encouraged to arrive early and dress for the weather, as both the parade and service take place outdoors.
With increased activity expected near the Legion, attendees are encouraged to consider walking, cycling, taking public transit or carpooling where practical. These options can help ease traffic congestion and parking demand while making it easier for everyone to participate.
Motorists travelling through Sooke on Remembrance Day should anticipate minor, temporary traffic delays as the procession makes its way from Evergreen Shopping Centre to the Cenotaph. Brief interruptions are expected along Highway 14, Otter Point Road and Shields Road between approximately 10:35 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.
Drivers are asked to allow a little extra travel time, exercise patience and follow directions provided along the route. The District appreciates the community’s understanding as space is made for this important tradition of remembrance.
Remembering Together
Remembrance Day is an opportunity not only to look back with gratitude, but also to reflect on the lasting importance of service, sacrifice and peace.
The District of Sooke extends its sincere appreciation to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54, its volunteers and all those who help bring the community together each November. Their care and commitment help ensure that the contributions and sacrifices of veterans, service members and their families continue to be honoured and remembered.
