Their diverse perspectives will help ensure tourism planning supports our community, local businesses and the experiences that make Sooke such a special place.” [not approved]

The Committee will monitor, evaluate, advise and make recommendations to Council on policies and strategic initiatives related to marketing and promoting Sooke’s tourism sector. Its work will be guided by the District’s Five-Year Strategic MRDT Business Plan and annual MRDT Tactical Plans.

“This Committee creates an important forum for collaboration among those who know Sooke’s tourism sector and visitor economy best,” said Gail Scott, Community Economic Development Officer. “Members will help us better understand visitor needs, identify opportunities and guide thoughtful investments in marketing, visitor services and destination development that deliver benefits for the broader community.”

The Committee’s inaugural meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. During the meeting, members will receive an overview of the District’s MRDT program and current tourism priorities and will appoint a Chair and Vice-Chair.

Committee meetings will take place in Council Chambers at Sooke Municipal Hall, 2205 Otter Point Road. Meeting agendas and minutes will be available through the District’s Meeting Management Portal. Under the Committee’s Terms of Reference, meetings are held at least four times each year, with additional meetings scheduled as required.
