District of Sooke Deploys Additional Resources to Support B.C. Wildfire Response
The District of Sooke continues to support provincial wildfire response efforts by deploying personnel and resources to communities in need.
A second Sooke Fire Rescue crew departed this morning to relieve the team currently deployed. Captain Ben Temple and Firefighters Isaiah Mackie and Jesse Cruz are currently supporting the response. They will be relieved by Training Officer Lowell Holmquist and Firefighters Paul Bohemier and Samantha Butts.
Rotating personnel helps sustain the response while supporting the health, safety and well-being of team members serving under demanding conditions.
The District’s Emergency Support Services team is also continuing its work. Volunteers John Chow and Julie Zadan are assisting in the Emergency Operations Centre, with two additional volunteers expected to deploy soon.
The District is carefully managing its staffing and resources to support the provincial effort while maintaining emergency response capacity in Sooke.
The District of Sooke extends its sincere appreciation to everyone contributing to the wildfire response, as well as the families, colleagues and communities supporting them while they are away from home.
