Photo Gallery: Sooke Celebrates Earth Day 2026
The District of Sooke extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Earth Day celebration at Woodland Creek Park such a success.
On April 22, students, educators, community members, and local organizations came together for a day of hands-on learning, environmental stewardship, and connection. From interactive stations to outdoor exploration, the event highlighted the power of community collaboration in caring for the natural environment.
A special thank you goes out to the many partners and volunteers who brought the event to life. With support from 26 volunteers and a range of local organizations, participants explored topics such as waste reduction, renewable energy, emergency preparedness, and local ecosystems through engaging, place-based experiences.
Contributing partners included:
- 606 Water Group
- Friends of Sooke Parks Society
- Shift Energy Group
- Sooke Garden Club
- Transition Sooke – Zero Waste Sooke
- Vancouver Island Regional Library
And of course, the goats returned as crowd favourites—once again capturing attention while demonstrating an innovative, eco-friendly approach to invasive species management.
Events like this reflect what’s possible when a community comes together with a shared commitment to sustainability, education, and stewardship.
