Public Service Advisory: Temporary Trail Closure - Little River (DeMamiel Creek) Crossing on Monday, March 9 (Weather Permitting)

The District of Sooke is looking forward to celebrating the official grand opening of the Little River (DeMamiel Creek) Crossing soon. Since the soft opening earlier this year, the trail has already seen strong community use, with many residents enjoying this new connection.

As crews complete the final finishing work on the project, a temporary trail closure will be required.

The trail between the Poirier School access and the bridge will be closed on Monday, March 9, starting at 7:00 a.m. No through travel will be permitted. The work is expected to take one day; however, it may extend over multiple days if required. Updates will be provided as they become available. All work is weather permitting.

Due to contractor availability and grant funding timelines, this work must proceed at this time and cannot be delayed to occur during spring break.

We recognize this closure may temporarily disrupt the active transportation route used by families and students, and we appreciate the community’s patience while these final improvements are completed. The District looks forward to celebrating the official opening of the crossing with the community soon.
