Sooke Region Museum to host Annual Open House and Salmon BBQ on June 28

The Sooke Region Museum and Visitor Centre is inviting residents and visitors to its Annual Open House and Salmon BBQ on Sunday, June 28, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the museum grounds at 2070 Phillips Road.

Admission is free to enjoy a variety of activities, tours and performances throughout the day. Visitors can explore the museum’s collection, visit Moss Cottage and the Triangle Island Lighthouse, watch films about Sooke’s history, make tree ring prints, and enjoy photo opportunities.

Live music will be featured throughout the day, with performances by 3 Bits Worth and the Sooke Community Jazz Band.

New for 2026, salmon meal tickets are available in advance for two service times: 12 p.m. or 1 p.m. The salmon dinner includes local salmon grilled over an open fire, potato salad, green salad, a bun and a drink. Hamburgers, hot dogs, strawberry shortcake and popcorn will also be available for purchase at the event.

The Annual Open House and Salmon BBQ is a long-standing community tradition and an opportunity to connect with local history, volunteers, neighbours and visitors.
