Sooke Skate Park Grand Opening on Sunday, May 31

The community is invited to join SEAPARC on Sunday, May 31, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. for the official grand opening of the new Sooke Skate Park.

This exciting community celebration will include an official ribbon cutting ceremony, live skateboarding demonstrations, food and refreshments available for purchase, a DJ, prizes, and giveaways.

Before the grand opening event begins, free skateboarding lessons will be offered from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Skate Park. Lessons will be led by Zoe Zollinger, an up-and-coming amateur skateboarder from Vancouver Island, along with coaches trained by Canada Skateboard. Registration is not required. Participants are asked to bring their own skateboard and helmet.

Community members are encouraged to walk, bike, skateboard, or scooter to the event where possible. For those travelling from outside the neighbourhood, parking is available at SEAPARC Recreation Centre, followed by a short walk to the Skate Park via the trail behind the Bike Park. Parking is also available at the Municipal Hall parking lot. Limited parking will be available at Journey Middle School.

The area around DeMamiel Creek Golf Course is expected to be busy during the event. Golf course users are thanked in advance for their patience as the community celebrates this important milestone.

Everyone is welcome to attend and help celebrate the opening of this new community amenity.
