Sooke Council Club

Learning how local government works — and how you can make a difference.

The Sooke Council Club is a hands-on learning program that invites local students to step into the world of local government. Through interactive sessions at Sooke Municipal Hall, participants explore how decisions are made, who does what, and how community members can get involved.

The program is designed to build civic awareness, leadership skills, and a sense of connection between youth and their community.

About the Program

Led by District of Sooke staff and the Mayor (or a mayoral designate), the Council Club introduces students to the roles of Mayor, Council, and municipal departments. Participants learn about community planning, budgeting, emergency services, and more — all through engaging activities and real-world examples in Sooke.

Sessions are offered to local schools and community youth groups, providing a fun and educational way to explore how local government works.
