Sponsorships

The District of Sooke Sponsorship Contribution Program provides financial and in-kind support to community events, programs, and initiatives that enhance community wellbeing, civic pride, and public connection.

Sponsorships support public-facing activities that benefit residents and visitors and align with District priorities. All requests are considered in accordance with the District of Sooke Sponsorship Contribution Policy and are subject to available budget and operational capacity.

Sponsorship Program Details

Use the sections below to learn what the District of Sooke may sponsor, who is eligible to apply, how funding decisions are made, and what is required if your request is approved.

The District of Sooke may consider sponsorship for:

  • Community festivals, celebrations, and events
  • Cultural, recreational, and educational initiatives
  • Activities that are open to the public and take place in Sooke
  • Events that demonstrate a clear community benefit

Support may be provided as monetary sponsorship, in-kind sponsorship, or a combination of both.

Eligible applicants include:

  • Non-profit and charitable organizations
  • Community associations
  • Schools and youth groups

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to deliver the event or initiative and meet all sponsorship acknowledgement and reporting requirements.

Sponsorship will not be provided for:

  • Political, religious, or advocacy activities
  • Private, invitation-only, or for-profit events
  • Activities that have already taken place
  • Requests that primarily benefit individuals or private businesses
  • Applicants with outstanding District reporting or unfulfilled commitments

  • Staff may approve monetary sponsorships of up to $250, provided:
    • Funds are available in the approved Sponsorship Program budget; and
    • The request meets the eligibility requirements of the Sponsorship Contribution Policy.
  • In-kind sponsorship requests may be approved by staff where they can be accommodated within existing operational capacity and budget.
  • The maximum sponsorship amount is $1,000 per year per request.
  • Council approval is required for:
    • Monetary sponsorship requests greater than $250; and
    • Multi-year sponsorship funding commitments, regardless of amount.
  • Council-approved sponsorships are considered at a public meeting of Council.

Submit a brief request by email to communications@sooke.ca that includes:

  • A short description of the event or initiative
  • The amount and/or type of sponsorship requested
  • The community benefit
  • How the District of Sooke will be acknowledged as a sponsor

To help track community impact and ensure accountability, please send us a quick email within 30 days after your event letting us know how it went.

Please include:

  • 2–3 photos showing District of Sooke sponsorship recognition
  • A short note on attendance or community reach
  • A brief note on Indigenous inclusion in event planning or participation (where applicable)

District Sponsored Events, Initiatives and Activities

Each year, the District of Sooke supports community events and initiatives through the Sponsorship Program. Below is a list of approved sponsorships by year. Event details are listed for recognition purposes; sponsorship amounts may vary.

Wounded Warriors One Day Run (Sooke to Sidney)
A one-day endurance run raising awareness and support for veterans, first responders, and their families, passing through communities across southern Vancouver Island.


Literacy Week Celebration & Pineridge Park StoryWalk®
Delivered by the Friends of Sooke Parks Society, in collaboration with the Vancouver Island Regional Library, this event celebrates literacy and outdoor learning through a temporary StoryWalk® installation in Pineridge Park.
