Effective August 10, 2026, recreational off-road vehicles are prohibited on Crown land in much of the Coastal Fire Centre, with specified regional exceptions.
Sooke Food CHI’s Gleaning Program connects fruit tree owners with volunteers to harvest surplus fruit, reduce waste, share food, and strengthen community connections locally together.
The 113th Sooke Fall Fair returns August 22–23 with exhibits, contests, live entertainment, family activities and opportunities for residents to enter, volunteer and celebrate together.
Licensed Sooke businesses are invited to submit their information at sooke.ca/businessdirectory as the District prepares to launch its new public online directory in October 2026.
Annual flail mowing and ditch clearing continue on Grant Road West, Otter Point Road South, Helgesen Road and Phillips Road, with traffic control as required.
At its July 27, 2026, Regular Meeting, Council received an update on the proposed sewer rate structure, which is expected to take effect in 2027. The next update on a new sewer servicing rates is scheduled for the September 8, 2026, Regular Council meeting.
Sunriver Nature Trail will close July 28–30 for invasive knotweed treatment. Please follow posted signs and remain outside the marked closure area during this work.
Council selected a 25-metre right of way for CP5 (extending from Charters Road to Phillips Road) at their July 13, 2026 meeting, setting its design direction while deferring construction, borrowing and broader project decisions to a future Council pending updated costs and information.
