Candidate nominations for Sooke’s 2026 General Local Election close at 4 p.m. September 11. Nomination information and the current list of candidates are available at sooke.ca/elections as nominations are received.

Students return to Sooke classrooms on September 8, bringing busier roads and increased activity around school zones. Plan ahead, travel carefully and use crossings safely. The District wishes students, families, teachers and school staff a safe, positive and successful school year!

The nomination period is now open for individuals interested in running for elected office in the District of Sooke’s 2026 General Local Election. Download and submit your nomination package to the Chief Election Officer by 4:00 p.m. on September 11. Late submissions cannot be accepted.

Sooke School District 62 is transitioning to new school websites and mobile apps. Families can access updated school websites through the School District's Find a School page.

Sunriver Nature Trail closures will occur August 18–September 18, 2026, for restoration. No pedestrian access. Dates are subject to change.

Effective August 10, 2026, recreational off-road vehicles are prohibited on Crown land in much of the Coastal Fire Centre, with specified regional exceptions.

Sooke Food CHI’s Gleaning Program connects fruit tree owners with volunteers to harvest surplus fruit, reduce waste, share food, and strengthen community connections locally together.

The 113th Sooke Fall Fair returns August 22–23 with exhibits, contests, live entertainment, family activities and opportunities for residents to enter, volunteer and celebrate together.
