Sooke Fire Rescue and Emergency Support Services personnel continue supporting B.C.’s wildfire response while maintaining local emergency capacity.

Twelve applicants and one Council representative have been appointed to the MRDT Tourism Advisory Committee to identify opportunities benefiting Sooke’s tourism economy.

Kirby Road has reopened after Sooke Fire Rescue contained a shed fire. The incident appears accidental, with nearby trees quickly extinguished by responding crews today.

District of Sooke personnel, volunteers and equipment are supporting British Columbia wildfire response efforts while maintaining local emergency capacity.

Sooke has received $30,000 to strengthen its Emergency Operations Centre with backup power, satellite communications, supplies, mobile technology and emergency preparedness training, supporting community resilience.

T'Sou-ke Nation, District of Sooke, and Capital Regional District continue collaborative effort to stop the spread of invasive knotweed along the Sooke River.

A small brush fire outside of the District of Sooke is being addressed by BC Wildfire Service. There is currently no concern for Sooke residences.

T’Sou-ke Nation will treat invasive knotweed along the Sooke and Charters Rivers under a pesticide permit valid from 2026 to 2029.

A $30,000 provincial grant will strengthen Sooke’s Emergency Support Services through volunteer training, new equipment and enhanced mobile response capacity for displaced residents during emergencies.
