District of Sooke 2026 General Local Election: Information Session for Interested Candidates: Individuals interested in running in the 2026 General Local Election are invited to attend an upcoming candidate information session hosted by the District of Sooke on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The session will be recorded and posted to the District of Sooke website following the event for anyone unable to attend. Sooke reminds residents to secure garbage, compost, and fruit during fall to prevent wildlife conflicts. Simple actions—like proper storage and timely fruit cleanup—help protect both the community and local wildlife.
The Friends of Sooke Parks are seeking a third partner to share a heated 10×10 storage unit in Sooke for $55/month, offering daily access and convenient centralized storage for equipment, supplies, and documents.
Community members will gather October 4 at 10 a.m. at Municipal Hall for a Sisters in Spirit Vigil, honouring missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls, and Two-Spirit people, and promoting remembrance, solidarity, and reconciliation.

The October 6, 2025 Community Economic Development Committee meeting at 1:00 p.m. has been cancelled due to no business; the next meeting is scheduled for November 3, 2025.
The Repair Café (Oct 5, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.) at Sooke Community Hall offers free help to fix items, including bikes, promoting skill-sharing and reducing waste through community collaboration.
Category 1 campfires are now allowed in Sooke following the lifted ban; however, backyard burning remains prohibited until November 1 and must follow strict seasonal and safety regulations.
