The Sooke Electoral Area Parks and Recreation Commission (SEAPARC) broke ground on the new Sooke Skatepark! The public is invited to monitor the project’s progress online at the Sooke Skate Park Project Page.

The District of Sooke is pleased to highlight and support Code 3 Santa, an annual community fundraiser hosted by the Sooke Fire Fighters in support of the Sooke Food Bank and the Sooke Christmas Bureau. This festive event returns on November 29 and 30 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Sooke Fire Hall #1 (2225 Otter Point Road). 

Short traffic delays and temporary closures will occur in Sooke’s town centre on November 11, 2025, for the Remembrance Day parade and ceremony. Expect rolling delays on Highway 14 and localized closures near the Legion.

Pursuant to sections 24 and 26 of the Community Charter, and in accordance with section 94, notice is hereby given that the District of Sooke intends to dispose of an interest in District-owned land by way of a lease for less than market value.

This holiday season, the Sooke Fire Department invites the community to join in the spirit of giving at the annual Fill a Fire Truck event, taking place Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7, 2025.

The District of Sooke Municipal Hall will be closed on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, for a Professional Development Day. Regular Municipal Hall services will resume on Thursday, November 27, at 8:30 a.m. 

The District of Sooke and the Sooke Lions Club invite community groups, businesses, and residents to participate in this year’s Sooke Santa Parade, happening Sunday, December 7, 2025. This year’s theme, “Sooke Light Up for Santa,” celebrates the joy of the season and the community spirit that shines brightest when Sooke comes together. Register your group, business, or organization by completing the Parade Application Form on the Sooke Lions website: Santa Parade Application - Sooke Lions Club.

While backyard burning is permitted in Sooke from November 1 to April 30, it is only allowed when ventilation conditions are GOOD. The ventilation index, published daily by the Province of BC, helps determine whether smoke can properly disperse into the atmosphere.

Following Council direction provided on Monday, October 27, 2025, the District of Sooke is in the process of scheduling a Special Council Meeting to discuss the Official Community Plan (OCP).
