Short traffic delays and temporary closures will occur in Sooke’s town centre on November 11, 2025, for the Remembrance Day parade and ceremony. Expect rolling delays on Highway 14 and localized closures near the Legion.

While backyard burning is permitted in Sooke from November 1 to April 30, it is only allowed when ventilation conditions are GOOD. The ventilation index, published daily by the Province of BC, helps determine whether smoke can properly disperse into the atmosphere.

Following Council direction provided on Monday, October 27, 2025, the District of Sooke is in the process of scheduling a Special Council Meeting to discuss the Official Community Plan (OCP).
As the rainy season begins, the District of Sooke has opened a free, 24/7 self-serve sandbag station at Ed Macgregor Park (6765 West Coast Road). Sand and bags are available for residents and businesses — just bring a shovel and fill what you need.
Otter Point Fire Fighters host Halloween Night at Camp Barnard on Oct 31, 2025. Festivities begin with a 6:30pm Bonfire, followed by 7:30pm fireworks. Families enjoy refreshments, candy for children, and a celebration highlighting regional fire department collaboration.
